The better you understand your writing prompt, the better your chances will be to write a strong essay.  It’s in the prompt where you find out what you are supposed to do and why you are supposed to do it.  However, finding that What and Why can be difficult.  Join Adam Robinson to discuss ways to make sense of your writing assignment in order to find direction, overcome writer’s block, and ultimately get words down on the page.  Bring your questions and any examples that you’d like to share.

Unique Volunteer Opportunity

The College of General Studies is looking for students seeking a CGS major to participate in a liberal arts writing skills assessment designed to measure the College's academic programs. This testing is for two weeks only, September 28 through October 9. You  choose the date and time that best suits your schedule! 

For participating, you will receive:

  • a $30 WePay cash card,

  • an external evaluation of your skills, which can help you stand out in a competitive job market, and

  • a certificate of achievement to insert in your portfolio. 

Check the schedule for specific dates and times. All testing will be held in the McCarl Center for Nontraditional Student Success, 1429 Wesley W. Posvar Hall.

Dean's Stars and Dean's List for Summer 2015

Congratulations to the College of General Studies' Dean's Stars and those who made the Dean's List for the summer 2015 term.

The following CGS students are recognized as Dean's Stars for achieving a 4.0 GPA for the summer 2015 term:

The following CGS students are recognized for achieving a 3.50 or better GPA for the summer 2015 term. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must complete at least 12 letter-graded credits with a 3.5 or better GPA within one academic year without G-grades. In order to qualify again, you must complete a new set of 12 credits and earn a 3.5 GPA. Congratulations to the following students for their outstanding academic achievement:
